Hey Dallas pizza lovers, mark your calendars for August 9th, because Tutta’s is having a pizza party, to celebrate the addition of 9 vegan pizzas to their menu! I’m not a party person…but if you’re having a 4 course vegan pizza party, you can count me in! Last week, my dear friend Courtney Garza (@colormecourtney_) invited me and the girls to check out the new vegan pizza menu at Tutta’s in Dallas West End to promote this event, and we were all thoroughly impressed. You can get tickets here!
Tutta’s owner and head chef, Jeremy Scott, is really creative about their toppings and they make everything from scratch, in house! For those wondering, the vegan cheese they use is Teese–I loved it because it’s not too heavy or greasy. You must come to the pizza party and try all their new vegan pizzas! Tutta’s vegan menu isn’t on their site just yet, but not to worry, I got you covered here! Here’s everything we tried…
TUTTA’S PIZZA DUMPLINGS
Filled with an amazing concoction of Tutta’s 505 Hatch Peach BBQ jackfruit filling, topped with a sorghum chili chimichurri, and a side of fresh lime vegan crema.
I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about these, but I was totally blown away! They are like mini calzones. The jackfruit’s flavor was on point and so was the texture. I appreciated these little bites because of the complexity of the flavors: sweet, savory, spicy, and tangy!
TUTTA’S TRIO SALAD
Spring mix, spinach, and romaine lettuce, topped with walnuts, dried cranberries, grape tomatoes, sliced carrots, and avocado. Dressing: vegan balsamic vinaigrette or vegan ranch.
This salad hit the spot, and their house-made vegan ranch was tangy and creamy without being too rich!
Homemade Marinara sauce, artichoke hearts, sundried tomatoes, fresh basil, vegan mozzarella.
My favorite part about this one was the sundried tomatoes and fresh basil! So divine.
MEET ME IN CALI
Homemade Marinara sauce, sliced avocado, sliced Roma tomatoes, alfalfa sprouts, vegan mozzarella.
Alfalfa sprouts on pizza? Don’t knock it ’til you try it. Jeremy was inspired by the California Club at City Bites, a quirky sandwich place named the #1 deli in Oklahoma. As someone from Oklahoma City, I loved this nostalgic nod to OKC…back in the day, I remember getting the Veggie sandwich, which also came with alfalfa sprouts.
Homemade Marinara sauce, diced tomatoes, fresh basil, balsamic reduction, vegan mozzarella.
Hands down, this was my favorite of the whole spread! The balsamic reduction is amazing, and the flavors are so fresh and simple–I’m definitely coming back for this.
Homemade BBQ sauce, sauteed Hatch BBQ jackfruit, red onion, and vegan mozzarella.
Can’t go wrong with a vegan classic, BBQ jackfruit, which was perfectly complimented with the sharpness of the red onions.
Just like a traditional Buffalo chicken pizza, but with jackfruit instead! Topped with vegan mozzarella, fresh shredded celery and carrots.
This one had a great kick to it, and I loved the addition of the celery and carrots, super refreshing–celery on pizza can be good, who knew?!
Homemade Marinara sauce, spinach, red onion, Roma tomatoes, avocado.
This is a great classic veggie pizza, elevated with the addition of avocado. It’s perfect for the trendy millennial in your group..but let’s be real, who doesn’t love adding avocado wherever possible?!
ORANGE (NOT CHICKEN) JACKFRUIT
Homemade spicy orange sauce, sauteed zesty orange jackfruit, topped with sesame seeds, shredded carrots & celery (slaw).
This one takes the prize of being my second favorite pizza at Tutta’s! The spice level is perfect, and I loved the zesty orange notes. I’m often skeptical of “fusion” dishes, but this was done very well–it’s a must try!
Homemade Marinara sauce, Portobella mushrooms, fresh garlic, fresh spinach, and caramelized onions.
Simple yet delicious, this pizza definitely has more personality than Bella…if you know, you know. The caramelized onions take it to another level! I also love that this one has no cheese. While I love vegan cheese, honestly, since going vegan, sometimes I just crave a pizza with pure veggies, with no distractions!
Homemade Marinara sauce & vegan mozzarella.
For your inner kid–this is simple tomato and cheesy goodness!
I was so happy to learn that Tutta’s makes all their sauces in house! This includes their vegan ranch, and their balsamic vinaigrette, and their Marinara sauce. As someone who appreciates lots of sauce, I highly recommend getting a side of ranch or their vibrant Marinara with your pizza, for dipping!
TUTTA’S BAKED APPLE PIE POCKET
Tutta’s vegan version of their very own homemade caramel baked apple pie tucked in one of their fabulous dough rounds, buttered (v), sprinkled with cinnamon raw sugar, and baked to perfection.
This dessert was a beautiful combination of flavors–I loved the balance of sweet from the filling and the slight savoriness from the crust!
I hope you get to try Tutta’s vegan pizzas soon–as you can see, it’s definitely not a place that just throws some vegan cheese on pizza and calls it a day. If you’re interested in trying all their vegan pizzas, check out their event happening on August 9th–again, you can get tickets here! I’ll see you there!
As always, thanks for reading and following along with my vegan adventures!
Thank you to Tutta’s for hosting us!
